Concrete Scanning

D-Drill & Sawing providing 2D and 3D concrete scanning.

We are at the forefront of the analysis of steel reinforcement in reinforced concrete structures.

With our innovative portable and fast 2D and 3D scanner we can detect and measure the depth of cover, diameter and positioning of reinforcing bars over a wide area.

The concrete cover and rebar diameter estimation element is best performed with pulsed magnetic induction technology – we use the best tools for the job.

KEY BENEFITS OF THIS SERVICE:

  • Locating services, rebars, tendons, conduits and concrete structures at depths of up to 200mm
  • Avoiding hitting concealed objects, rebar and services when drilling or sawing
  • Quality assessment and checking rebar and tendon layout (e.g. curvature, density, depth)
  • Inspection of floors, decks, slabs, balconies, etc in structures such as tunnels, bridges and buildings
  • 2D and 3D imaging and reporting
  • We use the most productive tools on the market to produce the quality scans you need
  • Small lightweight equipment can be used in the smallest of areas and spaces

Once your scan survey is completed and the steel rebar is located we are able to drill or cut whilst still on site

WE CAN:

  • Quick scan operation can locate rebar, this can be marked out immediately on the slab as the scanning progresses to give instant information
  • Provide a real-time view of the inside of concrete structures and generates true images automatically, for direct on-site evaluation of scan data
  • Show a top view of the scan for easy mapping of the objects detected plus cross sections in both directions for easy identification of multiple layers in concrete structures
  • Written reports including 2D and 3D picture reporting can be given within a few working days
  • Greatly reduce risks by locating the safest places to cut or drill.

Nantgaredig Intake Works

Complex waterworks job highlights D-Drill’s scanning and cutting expertise Engineers at a South Wales diamond drilling and concrete sawing firm have completed a major project at a key water management site in Carmarthenshire – from scanning to cutting. Skilled operatives from the Bridgend office of D-Drill removed three large concrete plinths from the Nantgaredig Intake Works to allow for three brand new water pumps to be installed. The firm used specialist 3D scanning equipment to scope out the job before undertaking the removal of the concrete. Special harness equipment had to worn during the scanning process due to the limited access. D-Drill, working with main contractor IPP Contracting, Welsh Water and Celtic Process Control, then removed each of the 4.6m x 2.2m x 500mm plinths over the course of four days. Due to the size of the plinths and the tight working conditions, the plinths were cut into smaller 1.1m x 400mm x 430mm blocks to allow for the removal. And,...
